The design of the silver coin
The obverse of the coin shows a maple leaf, which is also depicted on the Canadian national flag. On the reverse, as on all Commonwealth coins, is the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was updated to reflect her appearance until her death. The value of the Silver Maple Leaf is 5 Canadian Dollar. The coin is legal tender and is inscribed in English and French, the two national languages of Canada.
